Phil Dituri and Alysia DaSilva recently attended and presented at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Regional Conference & Exposition in Hartford, Connecticut. Phil gave two presentations:
- “Using Math to Teach Financial Understanding” which focused on incorporating personal finance into math lessons.
- “Should I Insure My Phone? Games and Mathematics for Modelling Risk” which showed how using dice games in classrooms can help demonstrate expected value and decision making int he context of purchasing insurance.
Andy Davidson and Jack-Marley Payne also presented at the 57th Annual Financial Literacy and Economic Education Conference hosted by the Council for Economic Education in Atlanta, Georgia. Their presentation was on:
- “Wealth not Cash” which included a series of games and activities for classrooms introducing the concept of wealth and a new approach to introducing students to personal finance.
